Here are some of my favorite looks from Creep by Hiroshi Awai. This season he uses a washed out/muted color palette of reds, khakis, and blues. I also like his subtle use of patterns from polka dots to florals to a "summer" fair isle".  The collection has a tailored but relaxed vibe perfect for the upcoming warm weather months.

You can't go wrong with a children's choir (PS22 in Staten Island) covering indie songs such as Phoenix's "Liztomania", Ariel Pink's "Round and Round", and MGMT's "Kids". The little kids are pretty entertaining and cute. Enjoy and feel all warm inside!
There are certain patterns that I will always ride for: plaid, leopard print, and polka dots. It must be the inner Ducky (Pretty in Pink) or Joe Strummer in me. Growing up in Cleveland, I would scour the thrift stores for polka dot button downs.  These days it's a lot easier to find and here are some great options from Engineered Garments, Levi's Lefty Jean by Takahiro Kuraishi, and Creep's spring collections.

There's over a foot of snow on the ground in NYC, but a big part of me can't wait for the days I can leave the boots in the closet and put on a nice pair of New Balances. Here's to wishful thinking of sun, salt free concrete, khakis, and some fresh, comfy running shoes.

I plan on doing some dyeing this weekend. But I wish I had seen this amazing natural dyeing tutorial by Italian fashion house, Etro earlier.  They call the project "The Cooked Shirt".  The site gives you step by step directions on how to cook your shirt in natural foods like coffee, blueberries, or salt.  The results are pretty amazing.  I can't wait to try this technique.  I posted the "Salt Cooked Shirt" with instructions here along with the finished results of the blueberry and coffee shirt. Looks like the Fair Isle and other Nordic style prints are here to stay for another season.  Junya Watanabe's Fall 2011 Collection relied heavily on the print but in a very fresh and exciting way.  I love the use of the pattern on the blazers mixed with the wool high waters.  These trends have been around for a couple seasons but Junya adds an interesting twist to the pattern.

Jake Davis, Angelo Baque, and Chris Gibbs worked on a video for Union LA.  According to Jake, the inspiration was "Prep, militant, gangster clothing that your girl loves you in... Ever wonder what she does when you leave her alone in your apartment the morning after?".

I could go on and on about the awesomeness of this girl.  And I'm sure you could too.  NYC native, Shaniqwa Jarvis is one of my favorite photographers.  She's living the life right now, shooting and living in London, NY, LA, and Jersey.  Here is a selection of my favorite jams from her newly updated portfolio site, www.shaniqwajarvis.com.  Also, be sure to check out her personal photo blog, ChunkyDoubleDeuce.

I don't know much about the site Pates Tapes. But it's got a lot of bootlegs and mixtapes of anything from New Order and Smiths to Reggae and World Music and everything in between.  This will be the soundtrack to your work day for the next couple months! Thanks Mr. Pates! (via Reference Library)

Earlier this week, Mark McNairy previewed his first collection for Woolrich Woolen Mills.  Most of you have seen the images of his Military/Ivy Prep inspired clothing.  Aside from being a very strong collection of clothes, I really enjoyed the presentation of his line including why and how he got interested in designing clothes.  It was a very fresh way to display his influences for the season.
