Modcast #76 - The Rapture (The Gospel of Luke) by modularpeople
I'm psyched to hear that The Rapture are back! They're back on DFA and Modular. To celebrate, the members have been putting together mixes. Here's a pretty cool mix of Gospel music from Luke Jenner from The Rapture. Obviously, he did the math wrong as well since the rapture was supposed to be last weekend! (via Modular)

To celebrate Gang Gang Dance's newest release, "Eye Contact", they decided to put together a psychedelic set of live videos filmed inside a studio filled with mirrors and dangling crystals, inspired by "infinity rooms" of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. These videos show what Gang Gang does best...crazy improvised live sets plus weirdo visuals and vibes. (via Opening Ceremony and Gorilla vs Bear)
Once again, Generic Surplus comes through with the perfect summer shoe, the Borstal (Mesh). This season they made it in three colors navy, beige, and red. Who needs flip flops, when you got these.

Here's a collection of videos to check out this week. The first one is a great collaborative video for the MOCA's "Art In The Streets" show featuring the work of Swoon and Cat Solen. It's an interesting point of view of Swoon's latest piece. (via The Citrus Report) Next, we got Dev's latest R&B project Blood Orange featuring Williamsburg's finest 90's style. (via Terrible Records) Also, a rare inside look at Genesis P-Orridge's life and style for Fader TV plus a preview of Miranda July's new movie The Future and Harony Korine's new piece, Curb Dance. (via Juxtapoz) And last is an interesting video on knots by Levi's Made Here. (via Levi's)

I remember when we were talking about shooting Jim Jones for the cover of The Source. He wanted to be shot like a greek god on a horse or some shit. It sounded awesome and totally absurd at the same time. It was around that same time that my friend Doan introduced me to his friend Girl Talk. It's funny how long it took for these two worlds to collide. But this freestyle is pretty epic especially with Jim Jones' classic echoed out ad-libs. (via Pitchfork)

I've been an online fan of Albam for a bit now. But since it's pretty hard to find in the US, I've never seen the full collection or the details that go into each piece. Once I got into London, I knew it was one of the shops I needed to check out. I could have spent an entire paycheck in this one store. It had everything you would need from waxed parkas to hand-dyed button downs. I came back with the bright blue knit sweatshirt with the blue leather elbow patches. Those are the kind of details that really make each piece unique.

Just came back from an amazing trip to London to see my girl Shaniqwa Jarvis's big solo show, "This Charming Man" at the Londonnewcastle Project Space. It was a very ambitious project and she killed it! The space and photos looked amazing. The opening was packed with London's finest. Check out the show. It's up until May 19th. And don't forget to buy the catalog I designed for the show. (Photos via Oddkindom and Beinghunted)
