THE DESIGNER: Mark McNairy Takes Over WWM
Mark McNairy, creative director of J. Press and shoe designer of Mark McNairy New Amsterdam, will be taking over for Daiki Suzuki at Woolrich Woolen Mills. This is amazing news for menswear as a Mark designs classic men's pieces but adds interesting, creative twists to them. If you're not familiar with his work, check below for more photos of his shoe line.

THE GRAPHICS: Shabazz Palaces cover art
I haven't heard the albums yet, only a couple tracks. But I love the covers...those patches are super tough.

THE T: Unknown Soldier
Everyone knows how much I love a good tank top. These t-shirts and tank tops from LA-based Unknown Soldier are looking perfect for summer. I really like the stark one color graphics, referencing no-wave, reggae, and african bands. Available at Nom de Guerre, Opening Ceremony LA, and A. Kinney Court. (via GQ)

THE WORD: Frank Sinatra to George Michael!
Yeah, it's really a letter Frank Sinatra wrote to the LA Times's Calendar magazine about a young and troubled George Michael! I guess George was feeling the effects of being a superstar after his debut album. Frank decides to give him some words of wisdom!

THE JAM: Attic Lights by Atlas Sound
Dramatic video of Atlas Sound performing Attic Lights in a church for Pitchfork's series Cemetery Gates. The video and live performance are epic.
THE GRAPHICS: Derrick Holt
If you live in Williamsburg or have eaten in the 'burg, chances are you have seen his work. Derrick Holt has designed menus and logos for restaurants such as Marlow & Sons, Lodge, Bonita, and my personal fave, Pies 'n Thighs. Check out more of his work below.
THE SHADES: Supreme Sunglasses
On May 20, Supreme releases two sunglass styles The Loc and The Dekker. Both frames are hand-crafted in Japan and come in a couple colorways. I'm glad to see Supreme re-issued the Locs from last Spring. They sold out pretty fast, and now you have another chance to cop 'em.

THE PANTS: Outlier Tailored Performance 60/30 Khakis
I'm fairly new to the whole hiking/outdoorsy thing. I play soccer and go on long bike rides, but I don't really have any gear for true trekking. I once did the 5 borough bike ride in jeans for chrissakes! I know that Outlier Tailored Performance is traditionally made for bike riding, but I feel that the 60/30 Khakis would be perfect for a hike up Bear Mountain as well as a long ride to the Palisades. The pants come in khaki and olive.
THE JAM: Go Outside by Cults
I was turned onto this song by my wife's friend, Alice. It was the first song on her Birthday Mix CD. With no tracklisting on the CD, I immediately needed to know who this band was. I couldn't tell what era this song was from...was it an old girl group from the 50's or a Swedish pop groups from the 70's?
With Shazam providing no help, I had to wait to find out the song was called Go Outside by Cults. They are a 2 piece, guy/girl group from NYC. It's got a great sing-along feel with heavy reverbed vocals and a motown-like bass line.
The song is perfect for a sunny day, or as I told Alice via Christine, it's perfect private villa music.

Sample sales are always a crap shoot. But last season's Opening Ceremony sample sale was pretty huge with tons of clothes from Band of Outsiders, Acne, Opening Ceremony, Pendleton, Loden Dager, and Nike Sportswear. It's always worth checking out and on the last day, everything gets marked down even more.
